Job Description

NYC Admissions Solutions (nycadmissionssolutions.com) assists families, schools, and other organizations navigate K-college school admissions. Founded by a former NYC Department of Education official and independent school admissions officer, we have trained hundreds of schools and school counselors, evaluated thousands of school applications, and counseled hundreds of families in identifying and securing a school fit of choice.

Job brief

  • Part-time, up to approx. 20 hours per month based on time of year (potential to transition to full-time).

  • Seeking a college/university admissions counselor who is passionate about working directly with families of high school-aged children and driven to directly impact their educational success.

  • Work includes all aspects of assisting families in navigating public and private college/university choices:

    • Manage client relationship and conduct direct counseling with families and students on the college/university admissions process

    • Help families evaluate school options and understand how to navigate the admissions process

    • Develop their preferred school list; maximize student’s candidacy at schools of choice

    • Develop timeline and action plan

    • Interpret tests and student records

    • Aid in preparation of applications and personal narrative/essay/portfolio

    • Aid in planning campus tours and interviewing

  • Work is primarily handled in families’ homes during late afternoon/after-school, evening or weekend hours (some flexibility with hours).

  • Complete regular reports on progress

  • Log notes into company CRM database

  • Will also involve marketing, recruitment and retention activities, as well as consulting with college/university personnel

  • Periodic meetings with the President

  • Reports to President

Requirements

  • Must have strong working knowledge of public and private college/university admissions

  • At least 5 years of proven related work experience

  • Engaging interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, including impeccable writing

  • Computer literacy (email, Google, Excel, etc.)

  • Social media experience a plus

  • Sound judgment and emotional intelligence

  • Must be willing to travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC

  • Ideal candidate is interested in business development, marketing and building the college business unit

Compensation

  • Hourly/negotiable, with potential to transition to full-time; must be able and willing to accommodate fluctuations in work schedule from month to month
