FLAGSTAFF ACADEMY HEALTH CLERK – Full-Time

 

Overview of Position

Flagstaff Academy seeks a full-time Health Clerk.  Responsible for meeting health needs of students, to provide basic health care, first aid, medicine accountability, and health record maintenance.  The ideal candidate is someone who has strong customer service skills, handling sensitive situations with respect and empathy when dealing with students, as well as parents/guardians.  Works closely with staff to ensure the safety and welfare of students. Works closely with a Children’s Hospital nurse consultant.  Coordinates and catalogs medications with discretion and sensitivity. Is able to prioritize several health-related situations at the same time.  Other duties include coordinating the annual hearing and vision screenings with the district, coordinating an annual dental clinic for students, keeping a detailed log of daily activity in the health office, collecting and inputting immunization records for annual state filing, and participating in appropriate staff development as required to ensure professional growth.

Specifically, we seek an individual with:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or associated vocational training required.
  • First Aid/CPR and AED Certifications
  • Experience in a health care setting, school setting preferred
  • Ability to work well with children including children with disabilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationship with students, parents and staff
  • Ability to accept supervisory direction and desire to improve job skills
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors to the school 
  • Ability to maintain student/family confidentiality
  • Exceptional organizational skills for ensuring medicine and student health plan compliance.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in crisis situations
  • Proficient with oral, written, and interpersonal communications
  • Experience using software applications;  including student databases, word processing, Google Docs, email, and basic office equipment
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An ability to use time productively
  • Prior experience working with children
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy, and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors to the school

Responsibilities include:

  • Staff the health office
  • Care for student health needs during day
  • Minor first aid
  • Administer medication as needed to students
  • First emergency responder, CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Maintain student immunization records
  • Maintain new and current student health files
  • Process daily attendance phone line message entry into Infinite Campus
  • Coordinate and assist in conducting hearing and vision screenings
  • Maintain, review medication logs
  • Prepare student medications for field trips
  • Review and follow Centers for Disease Control protocols
  • Meet with parents to discuss student needs
  • Provide care for students with medical needs
  • Filing, maintaining detailed records
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range:

Pay range is $16.00 to $21.00 per hour, depending upon education and experience.
