Teacher Instructional Coach Bilingual

Job Description

SUMMARY This position will involve in class coaching including demonstrating/modeling or observing instruction. Support teachers in meeting performance expectations. Create and maintain systems to manage the coaching process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

-Develop teacher?s understanding and knowledge of Spanish literacy and methodology. Apply and integrate appropriate, explicit and systematic instruction.

-Analyze data from appropriate assessments and student work to inform instructional decisions and design/differentiate instruction for all students.

-Use core, supplemental and intervention materials based on student needs. Learn to address the changes needed within classrooms and the school to ensure that all K-6 students are reading at grade level.

-Increase ESL strategy knowledge in teachers.

-Cultivate strong, collegial relationships with all staff by building rapport and trust through conversations, modeling, and observing in classrooms and during team professional planning days.

-Understand the needs of the adult learner and formulate plans using this knowledge to support the learner in various stages of change.

-Use effective group facilitation techniques to promote collaboration between and among teachers. Facilitate conversations with the bilingual team in analyzing student data and making decisions about research-based materials, grouping and differentiation of instruction.

-Serve as a member of the Design Team, and assist in the facilitation of staff meetings. Provide information on resources and assessments materials; provide professional development modules in areas of need followed by coaching sessions.

-Develop a working relationship with the principal that clarifies coaching goals, responsibilities and expectations. Develop a collaborative relationship with other building instructional coaches.

-Create and maintain a schedule for coaching each bilingual teacher.

-Monitor and organize the administration of required assessments.

-Assess the effectiveness of own work through feedback from teachers, tutors and administrators.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: Current Colorado teaching license. ESL/BL endorsement or an MA in ESL/BL Education. Must be bilingual and biliterate. Advanced degree or comparable experience in content area preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience. Demonstrated experience in classroom implementation of best practices in instructional strategies in a Spanish environment. Success in working with adult learners.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Demonstrated high level of student achievement in literacy. Ability to use standard District technology effectively and efficiently for a variety of purposes, as well as willingness to keep current on new technology. Strong leadership skills; ability to consult with and facilitate groups; and help others make sense of and adjust to change. Demonstrated experience in interpreting assessment data collected from a variety of sources. Willingness to plan and implement professional development, including in-services, classes, and collaborative models for individual teachers, teams, schools, articulation areas and District wide. Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, school day, and school year. Must pass written and oral language assessment.
