During the 2022-2023 school year, RMP is driving after five big goals:
  1. Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students will grow, on average, 1.25 years in math and reading. Pre-K students will grow on average 1 year.
  2. 50% of 3rd to 5th-grade students will read a million words.
  3. 3rd grade through 5th-grade students taking CMAS will score an average of 45 % on track for the next grade level with 10% scoring exceeds expectations.
  4. At least 90% of students who start at RMP, stay at RMP.
  5. Teacher retention will be at least 85%.
Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members will work towards 2 or 3 metrics that are aligned to both their individual roles AND the Big 5. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be held accountable for some of these goals. Learn more about how you’ll drive these goals in the list below.

Role Mission

Special Education Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep work to identify the needs of each scholar, maintain a productive learning environment and work collaboratively to support each individual scholar to meet their full potential. This position will span multiple campuses and require partnership with both APS and DPS special education programming departments. As the special education compliance manager you have a deep understanding of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) You are well versed in the use of data and CDE guidance to develop highly effective educational plans.  You will work closely with the Managing Director of MTSS/Intervention and Special Education to ensure authentic compliance with Special Education documentation and programming. The Special Education Compliance Manager will perform these and other duties as required.

Location

This position is a hybrid with opportunities to work remotely when appropriate. On-site work and travel to school campuses will be required on occasion.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with DPS and APS Special Education Instructional Specialist (SEIS) Manage December count for all network schools
  • Continuously Audit Enrich to ensure IEP compliance
  • Documents, signatures, and meetings  are up to date and accurate
  • Review IEP–PLAAFP, Student Needs and Impact of Disability, Accommodations, Modifications, Service Delivery Statement, and alignment to Quality Rubric.
  • Support schools in reviewing new student IEPsReviews FBAs and BIPs to ensure alignment to data, student needs, and behaviors
  • Develop and manage a calendar/tracking system for IEPsParticipate in Special Education department meetings as necessary
  • Monitor re-evaluations, special evolutions, and amendments
  • Provides guidance to the Assessment Team regarding alternative assessments, accommodations, and submission of documentation for state testing
  • Oversees special education eligibility and re-evaluation processes
  • Ensures procedural safeguards are metSubmits records and reports and assignments promptly and effectively
  • Ensures school teams maintain and uphold network and authorizer policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties, as required.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree (any subject)
  • An official transcript demonstrating a degree (graduate or undergraduate)
  • 5 years of experience as a Special Education Teacher in a public school setting
  • Completion of CDE READ Act training and/or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) 45 contact hours
  • Current Colorado teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
  • Special Education teachers must be certified in Colorado.  If your license is from another state, you will need to have the transfer complete before the first day of work.
  • Pass a background check
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States

Preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of  special education leadership– grade level chair, coordinator of a team of special education teachers, or manager of multiple teacher caseloads within a school
  • History of working with special needs populations in DPS and/or APS
  • History of case management
  • Experience with special education centers; Multi Intensive Centers and/or Autism Centers

Salary

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary range of $66,000 – $85,000. Salary is dependent on the number of years you’ve been teaching. Years count as full years spent Lead Teaching in American public K-12 schools and public Pre-K programs.
  • Teachers are also eligible for performance base pay, $1,000 per metric if they meet the data metrics (goals) for their role
